Petersburg Oil Terminal to consider possibility of VG transfer since 2011

JSC Petersburg Oil Terminal (port St.-Petersburg) considers a possibility to start transfer of vacuum gasoil (VG, a type of oil product). As the CEO of the terminal Igor Teleshev mentioned in Friday interview, the decision whether to accept VG will be taken in the end of 2009 or in the beginning of 2010. In this case the company will construct additional tanks for VG transfer. The Terminal Territory and the berth allow us to speak about possibility to accept additional volumes, Teleshev has specified. He also said that in case of ship channel deepening in the port of St.-Petersburg there is the terminal that can provide shipment of large-capacity tankers, with 100 thousand tons deadweight. At the present moment the terminal ships marine vessels approximately by 33 000 tons.

One year and a half is required for increase of tank park of POT . The first preparations are over, there are pile foundations under the base of new tanks,Teleshev has told. To construct tanks for single storage of 40 thousand tons VG, according to estimations $1-1,5 million investments will be required. This park will allow to pass around 600 thousand tons of VG in summer shipping navigation. The issue is how to accept export gasoil from the Bashkir oil refining factories or from Nizhnekamsk oil refining factories (goods apart from basic cargo flow going now on RPK Vysotsk «LUKOIL-II») by river tankers on system Volgo-Balt. The transfer by railroads is also considered.

If experienced employess of Petersburg Oil Terminal decide there is no need in VG tranfer, the terminal authorities will start on the construction of new tanks under black oil.

JSC Petersburg Oil Terminal renders services in transfer and storage of the dark and light oil products intended for export and bunkering of ships. The company analyses qualitatively oil products, accepts and processes petrocontaining waters from the ships calling into ports. The annual cargo turnover totals 11 million tons of black oil and diesel fuel.
