POT to handle VGO since 2011
Petersburg Oil Terminal JSC (POT) of the St. Petersburg port is considering a possibility for handling of vacuum gas oil (VGO, a variety of petroleum products), Igor Teleshev said Friday in an interview with journalists. By the end of this year or early 2010, Mr. Teleshev said, the company might calculate the capacity of POT for VGO shipping. In that case the POT would build additional reservoirs for handling of VGO. "The territory of the terminal and the port berth,” Mr. Telesheve is quoted as saying, “enables us to talk about the possibility of receiving additional volumes". If the company manages to make the approach channel deeper, Mr. Teleshev says, his company will be able to take large tankers with deadweight of 100 thousand tons for handling. Now the terminal is shipping vessels of approximately 33 000 tones.
To increase the terminal capacity, POT authorities said, the company would spend 1.5 years for reconstruction of the terminal, adding the concrete foundation for new tanks had been built. For now, we can talk about export VGO from Bashkir refineries or Nizhnekamsk Refinery to be shipped by river tankers. Transportation by Russia Railways is also possible.
"Petersburg Oil Terminal" JSC provides services for handling and storage of light and dark oil products intended for export and bunkering vessels. The company produces high-quality analysis of petroleum products, processes oily water from ships coming into the port. Annual turnover is reportedly about 11 million tons of fuel oil and diesel fuel.
