Construction of new 1,1 billion rubles highway to East Port to begin next year
A contract is reportedly to be signed next January to perform contractor's works on the first 18km section of the road. According to the Road Department, they have completed the design and survey works for the second 40km section. The project documentation passes the state examination.
Funds for the road construction were allocated by the federal target program "Development of the Far East and Transbaikal until 2013” and the regional program "Regional Roads". At least 1.1 billion rubles have been allocated for building of the highway for the next year.
The highway "Vladivostok - Nakhodka - Port East" will ensure, the experts believe, favorable conditions for transit transportation, reduction of costs as well as comfort and safety for truckers.
It is important, the press service of the regional administration said, the new highway will reduce the impact on the environment of southern Primorye, since it would bypass several local towns.
The highway Vladivostok - Nakhodka - Port East "will be built of cement concrete, more durable than asphalt road several times, and may operate at least over 50 years, the administration press service said.
