FCS of Russia eases customs procedure for Latvian carriers

Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia directed its department to lessen several customs procedure applied by December 15th regulations to Latvian carriers, the FCS press service reports. The recent discriminative customs control at the border was due to constant law violations allegedly committed by Latvian truckers. The issue have been discussed at the recent meeting of the Transport Group of the Intergovernmental Russo-Latvian commission on economic, scientific and technical, humanitarian and cultural cooperation Riga.

Representatives of the Latvian Association of International Automobile Carriers "Latvijas auto" said they were firm to cooperate with responsible Latvian governmental offices in a bid to prevent further law violations and recover the losses cased by the customs fees evasion. The FCS has positively responded.

Noteworthy, the FCS says, thus far the Latvian side has not provided specific proposals for a mechanism for debt repayment in full, while the information received by the FCS of Russia from "Latvijas auto" does not satisfy all the claims.

Therefore, the press service said, the FCS would not completely remove additional control measures applied to Latvian carriers until real actions for damages recover and order in the field of international transportation.
