Government defines Astrakhan sea port territory border
Astrakhan seaport is a branch of Rosmorport. Astrakhan city is located at the mouth of the Volga River and is one of the Russian ports on the Caspian Sea. In winter, when the river and adjacent marine waters freeze, icebreakers operate to ensure navigation.
Volga-Caspian canal connects Astrakhan and the Caspian Sea. The ship canal length 101.5 miles (188 km), depth of 5 m in width at the level of navigation depth of 100-120 m providing two-way traffic for vessels up to 126 m, width 16 m and a draft 4,2 m.
