Rolls-Royce To Supply Two Offshore Vessels for Island Offshore Company

Rolls-Royce, an international manufacturer of power plants received an order for the design and equipment supply of two diesel-electric offshore support vessels, UT 776 CD for Island Offshore Company, the largest owner of offshore vessels, the company reported. The ships will be built by STX Europe, the delivery is planned for 2011 and 2012. The total cost of the contract is said to be about 20 million pounds.
The new generation supply vessels will be equipped with a fully integrated system of Rolls-Royce hardware, including engines, propulsive and deck machinery, stabilization system, thrusters and automation systems.

Each vessel has a length 93 m, width 20 m and a deck area of 1000 sq.m. Ships will be equipped with monitoring system for oil spills.
Earlier this year, the company Island Offshore has ordered two ships of the same Rolls-Royce project  Island Chieftain and Island Commander. The company fleet counts a wide range of vessels designed by Rolls-Royce.

There are more than 650 UT class ships worldwide, designed by Rolls-Royce, either in operation or under construction.
Rolls-Royce is a global manufacturer of power plants intended for use on land, sea and air. The company holds a strong position among manufacturers of civil and military aviation, marine and energy. In 2008, the company's revenue was at 9.1 billion pounds, of which 52% of the proceeds from the sale of services. Contacted and announced orders may bring the company at least 57.5 billion pounds, the income that makes the company’s future activity quite predictable.
