Turkish shipyard begins construction of five tankers of the third series of "Armada" type, ordered by the Group of companies Palmali

Besiktas (BESIKTAS GEMI INSAA ANONIM SIRKETI) shipyard started building of five tankers of thethird series like "Armada" of RST22M project, ordered by the Group of companies Palmali («Palmali"). According to the designer of vessels - Marine Engineering Bureau - the new series of tankers are a logical continuation of the tanker project 005RST01, the so called "Armada", previously designed for GC Palmali and built at the shipyards SELAH and ADA in Tuzla (Turkey) back in 2002-2006 as well as the second series modification of tankers project RST22, built by Nizhny Novgorod "Red Sormovo" in 2008-2009.
The ships are designed to satisfy the Volga-Don Canal and the Volga - Baltic dimensions. Overall length of the ship of RST22M project is 139.95 m, breadth - 16,6 m, depth - 6,0 m.
The ships are of the tanker "Volga-Don max" class.
In comparison with the first series of "Armada" the new tankers have enhanced capabilities, increased to 650 tons of deadweight and the increased capacity of the cargo tanks while maintaining the capacity for operation in rivers.
The ships fully comply with new international requirements for the carriage of vegetable oils, including reinforced unsinkable characteristics.
The vessels meets all the requirements of the project RST22M class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping KM Ice 2 R1 AUT1 COMBO oil tanker / chemical tanker type 2 (vegetable oil) (ESP) ECO-S.
In comparison with the second series of "Armada" in the tankers of modified project all the new requirements of international conventions and rules of the Register were taken into account. 
According to the Armada series contract ten ships are to be build at the Turkish shipyards.
