The court ruled to place a lien on assets of trade union of "Tuapse Commercial Sea Port"

Based on the Dec. 16 ruling of Tuapse city court, today all funds and property of the trade union organization of "Tuapse Commercial Sea Port" JSC (TCS) have been seized, the ports administration press service reports. The company had earlier filed a damages clam in the civil court. Besides, officers of the court have also placed a lien on assets of members of the strike committee who had led the strike.
The press-service reminded that two years ago the port’s trade union members at their October conference decided to call on permanent strike. The Krasnodar Regional Court, in its definition banned the union’s strike until the court would announce its verdict on the ports authorities’ action to the court claiming the strike was illegal.
As a result, the port authorities said, the strike had caused damages at 1.358.682 rubles (approx. $45.290) associated primarily with the breach of contracts with Russian Railways.
On December 2009, OJSC "TCSP" brought an action for damages against trade union strikers to the city court. After reviewing the case, the court ruled a lien on assets of the trade union in banks as well as other property owned by the union leaders and members to recover the company damages.
