FST establishes tariffs rates for the transportation of export ferrous metals through the Far East ports

The Federal Tariff Service (FTS) of Russia at December 24th meeting decided to update the current rate of exclusive tariffs for the transport of ferrous metals for export through the ports of the Far East, the agency reports. The tariffs will be in force till December 31st, 2010.

The agency authorities said,  the size of the exceptional tariffs was not changed for cars of the total fleet (coefficient of 0,043 for a distance exceeding 3.1 thousand km) but the tariff conditions updated for the transportation of ferrous metals in its own (leased) cars, with the establishment of a single factor to the rates of section two of the Price List N 10.01 "Tariffs for transportation of cargo and in the services provided by Russian Railways" in both laden and empty trains: the coefficient of 0,043 for a distance exceeding 2,4 thousand km.

The mentioned above new rates are said not to increase the tariff burden on users of transport, beyond the parameters of the indexation of tariffs for cargo railway transportation as defined by the government in the frame of social and economic development of Russia in 2010 and the planned 2011- 2012 period, the agency report reads.
It is noted that measures were introduced "in order to create equal conditions for operation of rolling stock of different owners for shipments of ferrous metals for export by rail through the ports of the Far East, as well as creating conditions for a more efficient use of rolling stock and rail infrastructure, a decision to change the format of current exclusive of tariffs for the transport of ferrous metals for export through the ports of the Far East, the FTS said.
