Power Machines wins profiled iron contract, supplies Oka Shipyard

Power Machines JSC was contracted to produce for Oka Shipyard (Navashino, Nizhny Novgorod region), a large production lot of profiled iron, 2.000 tons of bulb iron required for the construction of ships. The contract term - February and March this year. The contract value was reported to be over 60 million rubles. The contract was placed at Turbine Blades, a PM’s branch, the company statement said.

The iron producer had previously cooperated with Oka Shipyard, but the bulb profiled iron orders never exceed 10 tons. In late 2009 O.Shipyard had an order for the construction of 10 river dry bulkers and invited Power Machines submit a bid for a contract. The PM said it had won the contract due to the development of new production technologies with Russian Maritime and River Register of Shipping and Prometheus Research Institute as well as its competitive prices.

Oka, Okskaya Shipyard, a shipbuilder founded back in 1907, is situated on the south-west of Nizhny Novgorod Region, in the city Navashino on the river of Oka. The Shipyard has been manufacturing river and sea vessels of various types and purposes.
