KOGAS to boost Russian gas imports by 2015

Korean state-owned KOGAS corporation plans to increase imports of Russia's natural gas as much as 100 times by 2015, reported the press office of Viktor Ishaev, Russian President’s authorized representative in the Far Eastern Federal District. The ambitious plan was announced by KOGAS’s CEO Zhu Kangsu at his meeting with Mr. Ishaev in Khabarovsk.

"Our company is capable of building LNG (liquefied natural gas) refineries and pipelines, investing in gas chemical industries. We are currently importing Russian natural gas at amount of 2 billion cubic meters. By 2015, we plan to boost the LNG volume to 200 billion cubic meters", CEO of Korea Gas Corporation was quoted as saying.

Zhu Kangsu noted at his meeting with Mr. Ishaev that his company would be willing to invest in developing Yakutia gas-condensate field, participate in the construction of gas-chemical complex in the port of Busan, invest in a project for gasification of municipal boiler-houses in Vladivostok, as well as participating in the construction of a pipeline on the territory of Khabarovsk Territory.

Viktor Ishaev assured Mr. Kangsu that the KOGAS plans in the Far East would get the green light.
