Building materials turnover by FCC at Russia's Black Sea ports up 3 million tons in 2009, a threefold growth over previous year

In 2009, traffic volumes of cement and building materials in the rail cars by First Cargo Company (FCC JSC) through the Black Sea ports’ terminals increased threefold compared with 2008 - up to 3 million tons, the FCC press service reports. The bulk cargoes were largely transported in gondola cars (2.3 million tons of gravel and sand) and cement cars (630.000 tons of cement).

The building materials and cement are being shipped to the Black Sea ports for the construction of facilities in Sochi, as well as for upgrading the rail infrastructure, the construction, in particular, of second tracks.

Novoroscement JSC, Mostovskoy Crushing and Sorting Plant JSC, ViVo LLC are listed the major movers of bulk cargo to the Black Sea coast stations.

The FCC JSC is the largest rail cargo operator in Russia, with its rolling stock including 77.000 rail tanks, 55.000 gondolas, 14.000 platforms, 14.000 box cars and 45.000 specialized railcars.
