Vladimir Putin steps in, orders to resolve Kamchatka fishing boat issue

Owners of fishing vessels constructed under a loan from German banks and guaranteed by the Russian Federation Government should formalize these vessels to the ownership of the RF. Then, these vessels should be included in the relevant registers of the State Fisheries Committee. The crews should be able to start working, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on the situation around fishing vessels constructed under the guarantee of Russia's government.

According to the press service of the Government of Russia, Vladimir Putin noted the fishing vessels history had dragged on since 1992. "All problems with the German partners have been resolved, but the debt problem still persists. The problem of debt to Vnesheconombank and before the Ministry of Finance ", Vladimir Putin was quoted as saying.

Then, after the ships registration, Mr. Putin said, the Fisheries Committee will hand over these vessels to the companies either to be the chartered or sold. But only in case if those companies, since some of them had already fulfilled their credit obligations by 85-90%, finally have the debt issue resolved, pointed the head of Russia's government.
 
"And finally, the last - in recognition of your counterparties fines and penalties, these penalties and fines to be written off and the remainder of the debt restructured under the soft loan for as many years as needed to calm the economic work and debt", - Vladimir Putin summed up .

As previous reports said the crews of several fishing boat staying idle on the Kamchatka Peninsula called a hunger strike demanding allowance for fishing. 12 ships of Acros company were built in Germany under the guarantees of the Government of Russia. Due to the fact that the loan was still outstanding, the ships unregistered according to RRS, the fishing in Russian waters was considered illegal.
