Infrastructure of Ust-Luga – Zasnits ferry line to be finalized in July 2007

Infrastructure of Ust-Luga – Zasnits ferry line is to be finalized in July 2007, Igor Rusu, Director General of Ust-Luga OJSC told at the press conference in Saint Petersburg. According to Rusu, seven calls per week are planned to be arranged at the first stage. If necessary, the amount may be extended. As of today, only one ferry – the Baltyjsk – operates at the line. It is owned by Rosmorport.  The acquisition two more steam ships is under discussion now. Rusu says Russian and German investments are to be attracted for both construction and purchase. The orders have not been placed yet while the decision is to be taken after launching of regular link between Russia and Germany, Rusu added. Today Ust-Luga port is under service of Kingisepp customs; in future, when the port reaches planned volumes, new customs will be planned there. Ust-Luga Company was founded in 1992. It is the customer-developer of the sea trade port of Ust-Luga. Under contract with the RF Ministry of Transport the Company is entitled to take independent decisions as regards financing, designing, construction and maintenance of the sea trade port of Ust-Luga with attraction of state and private investments. The larges shareholders of the company are Leningrad Region government (27.3% of shares), United Financial and Industrial Company OJSC (21.9%), Cyprus companies Gramelinko Ltd. (17.5%) and Interalonso Holding Ltd. (15%).
