Volumes of freight traffic through terminals of Ukrainian seaport may gradually increase, in particular, this current year at least 2-3 percent as compared with 2009, the growth in 2011 could be 10% in year-over-year numbers, the same 10 percent in 2012, a double surge against 2010, "Ukrinform" reports citing the forecast by Ukraine Company (container terminal operator in Odessa CSP).

According to experts of State Administration of Maritime and River Transport, volumes of containers shipment through Ukrainian ports will gain more and faster. Thus, in the 2002-2008 over the volume of transshipment of containers increased by about 40% a year, whereas the average annual growth over the same period amounted to no more than 10%.

The crisis that had hit global port industry also caused a drop in container shipments in Ukrainian ports that shrank from 1.253 million TEUs in 2008 to 0.496 million TEUs in 2009.
