SOCAR Oil Terminal in Kulevi to handle Aframax tankers

Black Sea Oil Terminal (BST Ltd) in Kulevi (Georgia), owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), has obtained a license from the Maritime Transport Department of Georgian Government to handle Aframax tankers, ABC.az reports citing the Port Authority statement.

The statement also said the port had acquired two RDCP measuring devices to monitor ship movement to allow Aframax tankers berthing at the port. The equipment provides data to measure current velocity at different depths, the wave height and temperature of the water.

The terminal has been operating since May 2008. The total capacity of terminal facilities is 10 million tons of liquid bulks a year, including 3 million tones of oil, 3 million tons of diesel fuel, 4 million tons of HFO. The terminal tank farm is 320.000 cubic meters, expandable to 380.000 cubic meters.

The terminal maintains two wharves for loading of petroleum products onto 100.000-ton tankers. Loading volumes ranged from 1000 to 8000 cubic meters an hour. The terminal operates a railway station for accommodation of up to 180 rail tanks. The handling facilities allow off-loading rate of 168 tanks at a time.
