The statement said, bulk cargo volumes added heavily to the growth in freight traffic. The transportation of coal jumped as much as five times, up to 1.5 million tones, coke - to 3.700 tons, a 43% rebound, oil and petroleum products – 183.600 tons (+1%), timber cargo - by 4.900 tons (+12%), fertilizer - at 898.600 tons (+2.8 times).
The statistics for Russia and Latvia freight volumes also show an increase, up 1% (389.000 tons). The volumes amounted to 34.4 million tons: 32.5 million tones of exports, 530.300 tons of imports and 1.4 million tons of transit cargoes. The traffic growth there also was due to growth in transportation of oil products that added as much as 50 percent, 1.7 million tones (+25%) and ferrous metals - by 102.000 tons (+25%).
Export shipments increased by 1.4 million tones (+ 5%) including: oil - 2.1 million tones, a 34% rise, fertilizer – 9.800 tons, a year-over-year 100 percent surge, while transit volumes dropped 1.5 times (- 0.6 million tones), to 1.1 million tons.
The throughput of Russia and Lithuania railroads trade decreased by 1.6 million tones (-23%), to 5.4 million tons, including 4.3 million tons of exported commodities, 491.400 tons of imports and 599.300 tons of transit cargoes.
The freight traffic cutback there occurred because of reduced volumes in bulk cargo transportation: coal – down to 161.600 tons (-49%), oil and petroleum products - 756.100 tons (-31%), ore - at 3.7 tones, a 86% dip, ferrous metals dropped to 488.200 tons (-65%), timber cargo - 36.300 tons (-41%), building materials – at 91.700 tons (-35% ) and other commodities - to 180.900 (-11%).
