Transshipment of general cargoes in January 2010 reached 138.200 tons, a 17.6 percent increase. The port’s statistics show a positive trend in the volumes of ferrous metals that have a 23.5% growth, in timber volumes – 38.5%, volumes of perishable goods jumped 108.6% compared with January 2009. At the same time, the reported shipments of iron dropped by 30.100 tons due to falling demand in European markets.
Shipments of bulk cargoes through the port’s terminal reached 104.800 tons, a 12 percent rise, over January 2009. Of the overall bulks volume grain cargoes amounted to 199.900 tons, or 45.8 percent increase, sugar volumes – as much as 94.4% (47.100 tons), mineral fertilizers - by 31.6% (41.000 tons). The Port Authority’s data show the iron ore exports via the port dropped to 179.500 tons thanks to an increase in Russian market demand, while handling volumes of the ferrous metals rose to 138.400 tons.
In January this year, the press release said, liquid bulk cargo shipments totaled 137.700 tons, 2.6% below the volumes in January 2009. The port’s terminal resumed transshipment of urea ammonium nitrate (36.200 tons handled). The volumes of petroleum products and vegetable oils increased by 7.4% (87.900 tons) and 21.1% respectively, while transshipments of crude oil declined by 6.6% (266,7 thousand tons).
Containers turnover at the port grew by 6.5% (1.300 TEUs) as compared with January 2009.
