Saint-Petersburg port runs environmental project, spends 20% more last year

In 2009 Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg Group allocated for environmental protection project more than 67 million rubles, a 20% increase over the same period last year, the Sea Port of St. Petersburg press office said.

The statement said more than 41.6 million rubles were spent for construction of sewage treatment facility of Universal Cargo Facility in Ust-Luga (0.5 million rubles), Ro-Ro Terminal of the First Stevedoring Company (36.8 million rubles.), of the 4th Stevedoring Company’s container terminal (4.6 million rubles.).

6.9 million rubles were allocated for the repair and maintenance of integrated water treatment facilities and storm water drains in the First, Second and Fourth Stevedoring companies of the group.

Sea Port of St. Petersburg said its facilities meet the standards and requirements of environmental and sanitary legislation. The company has spent 18.8 million rubles for ecology services monitoring the quality of air, land and water resources and volumes of removed waste materials.

Sea Port St. Petersburg group of companies of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding integrates First Stevedoring Company, Second Stevedoring Company, Third Stevedoring Company, Fourth Stevedoring Company, Universal Transshipment Complex in Ust-Luga as well as scores of service companies.
