The timetable was set at a meeting of the Maritime Council of the Government of St. Petersburg held today. According to Mr. Kary-Niyazov, the ferry line will start operating in the navigation of 2011, who added the line can be operable as early as 2010.
Earlier reports said the St. Petersburg authorities had implemented an ambitious project for increasing coastline. On 476.7 hectares along the coastline of the Gulf of Finland on Vasilevsky Island more than 4 million sq m. of real estate and a seaport have being constructed. The first ship called at the new port in September 2008.The third phase construction is ongoing. The project cost is reported at some 6.9 billion rubles. The project is expected to be completed in 2011.
