Troika Dialog, Murmansk Transport Hub deal to boost MTH

Troika Dialog Invest Comp. and Murmansk Transport Hub (MTH) management company have signed a cooperation agreement to implement a comprehensive investment project the "Development of the Murmansk Transport Hub. The agreement means cooperation between the two companies in the establishment of deep-sea center for handling of containers, oil cargoes, transshipment of coal and mineral fertilizers. The year-round operating center is integrated into the international "North-South" transport corridor, Troika Dialog statement said.

The development investment in transport infrastructure in Murmansk is one of the priorities of the transport industry, says Andrei Shapovalyants, the General Director of MTH OJSC. "The cooperation of Murmansk Transport Hub and Troika Dialog, an experienced financial consultant, has become an important step in solving the objective", Mr. Shapovalyants is quoted as saying.

The viability of the project is unchallenged, Andrew Karasev, the CEO of TD investment company said. The Murmansk Transport Hub operates in a promising market for investments. The MTP’s portfolio of assets, such as the seaport of Murmansk, is less affected by market fluctuations. Therefore, the investments in this infrastructure remain attractive, despite the situation on international financial markets.

Troika Dialog reminded the $995-m initial public offering of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port by the investment company in 2007. In 2008, Troika Dialog became a stockholder in First Quantum Ports (FQ Ports), a subsidiary of First Qantum, one of the largest investors in port projects in Russia.

The project development of the Murmansk Transport Hub mean the construction of a new marine coal terminal (Lavna Commercial Sea Port) of 20-m-ton annual capacity on the western shore of the Kola Bay and the new 12-m-ton coal terminal in the eastern shore of Kola Bay. Besides, there is another ambitious project ahead for the construction of a container terminal of handling capacity of 350.000 TEUs a year expandable to one million TEUs a year (outbound containers to be transported from the port by railroad). The project includes the construction of an onshore logistics center and an oil terminal, designed for handling 35 million tons a year and.
