Russian railroads show a 11% volume rise, 176m tons in January-February

In January-February this year Russian Railways (RZD) branches reported a 14 percent gain in loaded volumes of cargoes, 176 million tons. In February this year, the railroads facilities handled 88.4 million tons, up 11% from February 2009, the RZD press release said.

Overall, the Russia railroads loaded in these months 48.6 million tons of coal, adding 15.5% from the same period a year earlier, of coke - 1.9 million tons, a 74.1% spike, oil and petroleum products - some 40 million tons (+8.8% ), iron and manganese ore - 15.7 million tons (25.1%), ferrous metals - over 11 million tons (14.8%), ferrous metals - 1.7 million tons (39.9% ), chemical and mineral fertilizers - 7.5 million tons (31.2%), timber cargo - 6.5 million tons (+14%), construction cargoes - 13.6 million tons (2.9%), chemicals and ash - 4.5 million tons (33.9%), cargo in containers - 2.4 million tons (23.8%).

In January-February freight traffic increased by 15.5%, reaching 297 billion ton/km tariff.
