Cargo turnover at NUTEP up 35%, to 22.226 TEUs in January-February

Freight volumes handled by the Nodal Transporting and Forwarding Company of Novorossiysk (NUTEP) reached 28.226 TEUs in January-February this year, a 35% increase over the same period in 2009, press release of the National Container Company (manages NUTEP) said.

In February 2010 the terminal handled 16.34 TEUs, showing a 68.7% jump from February 2009. In the same period 8.172 TEUs of exports were shipped via NUTEP terminal and 7.862 TEUs of imports. Laden and empty containers ratio was 68.21% to 31.79%, respectively. In February the NUTEP terminal handled 15 vessels. Average turnover amounted to 1,069 TEUs / vessel.

National Container Company (NCC) is the largest Russian operator of container terminals, leading in the market of stevedoring services. The owners of the NCC in equal shares are of First Quantum and FESCO Transport Group. Last year overall container turnover at NCC Terminal was at 1.2 million TEUs.

The NCC's portfolio of assets includes First Container Terminal (FCT), NUTEP Container Terminal (Novorossiysk), UKRTRANSCONTAINER container terminal (Ilyichivsk, Odessa region), Ust-Luga Container Terminal (Leningrad region) and Logistics-Terminal, a rear container terminal and logistics center (Shushary, St. Petersburg).
