Container turnover at FCT, St.Petersburg up 25.4%, 156.000 TEUs in January-February

In the first two months of this year the throughput of the First Container Terminal (FCT, St. Petersburg) amounted to 156.196 TEUs, 25.4% up from the same period a year earlier. Container turnover this February reached 79.793 TEUs, a 30.2 percent rise over the last year’s two months, the National Container Company reported (NCC, manages FCT).

In February 2010 the Terminal loaded 39.702 TEUs of outbound containers and off-loaded 40.910 TEUs of imports. Turnover of refrigerated containers was at 10.375 TEUs. The Terminal handled 61 container ships, the average turnover per vessel – 1.308 TEUs.

National Container Company (NCC) is a leading Russia container operator in the market of stevedoring services. The First Quantum and the Transport Group FESCO hold equal stakes in the NCC. In 2009 the NCC Terminal’s throughput was at about 1.2 million TEUs, making up a 42.1% of all Russian ports container volumes. The NCC's portfolio of assets includes First Container Terminal (FCT, St. Petersburg), NUTEP Container Terminal (Novorossiysk), UKRTRANSCONTAINER Terminal (Ilyichivsk, Odessa region), Ust-Luga Container Terminal (Leningrad region) and Logistics Center-Terminal, a rear container terminal and logistics  (Shushary, St. Petersburg).
