According to the port’s statistics Arkhangelsk handled 81.700 tons of inbound cargo, 26.9% more as compared to January-February 2009, and 173.500 tons of exports, a 80.4% surge over the last year’s figures. At the same time, the volume of coastal shipping declined by 65.3%, to 92.200 tons
Arkhangelsk, a year-round navigable seaport, is located in the delta of the Northern Dvina River flowing into the White Sea. The total capacity of Arkhangelsk port allows handling up to 4.5 million tons of cargo a year. Last year’s throughput of the port of Arkhangelsk shrank by 30.58%, to 3.271.600 tons.
