Xiamen port cargo surpasses last year's total, hits 3.3m TEU

Containres and other cargo through the port of Xiamen in the nine months to October has reached 66.55 million tons - 3.34 million TEU -- already exceeding the 2005 total, Xinhua News Agency reported.Container throughput between Xiamen and Kinmen in Taiwan has also reached a record level by breaching the 500,000 TEU mark by five hundred TEU, the report said. The port of Xiamen is said to have set throughput targets of 78 million tons of cargo and four million TEU for the year, the report added.
