Southern Sevastopol launches 50-car-capacity rail ferry

South Sevastopol Plant (Ukraine) launched today a railway ferry of CNF09 “Slav” project. The ship can carry 50 rail cars was designed to operate Port of Kavkaz - Port of Varna (Bulgaria) ferry line, the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB), the project designer said. The Don-Kuban Branch of Russian River Register was a supervisor of the project.

The ferry was ordered by AnShip Company, whose 25-car Petrovsky and Annenkov ferries of 002CNF01 project and 45-car Avangrad ferry of CNF06 project have been operating the lines Port Kavkaz - Port of Crimea, Port Kavkaz - Port of Varna.

The ferry is meant for the transportation of rail cars, ro-ro cargoes and hazardous goods of classes 1, 2, 3, 4.1, 4.2, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 and of oversized cargoes.
 
The ferry’s overall length is 150.2 m, length between perpendiculars – 139.94 m, overall breadth - 22 m, estimated width 21 m, depth 8 m.
 
The vessel’s deadweight is about 6.258 tons, at 4.5 m of a load waterline draft, which allows her operations in the shallow-waters of Port of Kavkaz to the Port of Varna and Poti Port to ensure freight flows to Russia - the EU, Russia - Armenia, the MEB said.
