The 1st International Conference "Saint-Petersburg - naval capital of Russia. Ecology" will be held in St.Petersburg from March 17 through March 18, 2010, as "United Russia" political party launched its project. So far, representatives from over 25 Russian regions have confirmed their participation in the event. The Conference will be attended by the industry delegates, such as the Port of Tallinn, Eurasian OJSC, Yugvodokanal LLC, LukOil OJSC, Gazprom Urengoy Mining Ltd, Gazprom Neft Shelf Ltd., White Sea Port CJSC, Atomflot FSUE, KWI International, MorTransBunker LLC, as well as experts of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and many others, PortNews reports citing the Conference press office.
The main themes of the conference include: Implementation of the State Water Control in Russia, the Environmental Situation in the Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Caspian Sea and the Sea of Japan, pollution of rivers on the borders of Russian with other countries, the Amur River from the standpoint of Russia and China; Prospects of Active Use of the Northern Sea Route and the Ecology of the Arctic Zone, etc.
The proposals and the final resolution that will be adopted at the Conference will be focused on reduction of the number of "environmental hotspots" and improvement of measures to protect water resources, said the Conference organizational committee.
