St. Petersburg Customs’ Vyborg post to be removed on May18, 2010

Vyborg customs post will be removed from May 18, 2010 in accordance with the Concept of arrangement of customs clearance and control posts near the Russia’s state border, the North-West Customs Directorate (NWCD) statement said.

Operations at Vyborg customs post of St. Petersburg Customs had been temporarily suspended since the end of February 2010 while officers of FCS’s department combating smuggling carried out special operation. The counter-smuggling department said 22 goods laden trucks were carrying consignment worth over 300m rubles that considerably exceeded the officially declared cargo weight. The FCS filed a smuggling criminal case under Article 188 of the Russian Criminal Code.

Customs clearance procedures in the region are carried out at the Shusharsky Customs Post of of St. Petersburg Customs (including Kurortny and Primorsky districts of St. Petersburg). The St. Petersburg’s Yuzhny Customs Post is responsible for the Admiralty, Vasilyevsky Ostrov, Petrograd and Central districts of St. Petersburg, municipality of Pargolovo in Vyborg district, municipalities of Sampsonievskiy, Svetlanov, Sosnovskoye, Parnas. Several customs posts are planned to be added to carry out customs clearance at Yuzhny Post of St. Petersburg Customs.

All customs posts of the Baltic Customs are operating. NWCD has recently issued an order to implement the "dry port" project.
