Nakhodka port shows a 3.1% growth in cargo volumes, 2.66 million tons in Jan.-Feb.

Cargo turnover at the Port of Nakhodka (Russia’s Far East) in January-February 2010 increased by 3.1% as compared with the same period of 2009, to 2.66 million tons, PortNews IAA reports quoting the Port Authority statement. The two months output statistics posted by the RosMorPort’s branch show the transshipped volumes of coal, coke, anthracite and charge has grown by 62%, to 373.600 tons, of ferrous metals gained 3.7%, to 895.600 tons, while oil products were slightly down 0.3%, to 1.174 million tons.

Container counts have grown as much as 2.1 times, up to 1.482 TEUs.

Port of Nakhodka is located in the northern Bay of Nakhodka. The year-round navigation port is linked with the railroads network of Russia and Western Europe via Trans-Siberian Railway. In 2009 the Port Authority reported a year-over-year 3.3% gain in freight volumes, up to 15.698 million tons.
