West-Siberian Railroad’s volumes up 13%, 38.8m tons in January-February

The loaded volumes by the West-Siberian Railroad (WSR) in January-February 2010 increased by 13.1%, to 38.811 million tons, the WSR press service said.

Of overall volumes loading of coal rose 13.2%, to 29.62 million tons, oil cargoes by 6.4%, to 2 million 14 thousand tons. Volumes of loaded coke jumped 84.4%, to about 1.2 million tons.

Shipments of timber cargo, fertilizers and chemicals in the reporting period exceeded the last year’s numbers: timber, by 3.3% (182.500 tons), fertilizers, by 16.3% (310.400 tons), and chemicals, by 14.9% (419.000 tons).

Freight traffic in the two months gained 10.2% against the same period in 2009, totaled 42.459 billion ton / km.

West-Siberian Railroad is a branch of RZD OJSC (Russian Railways). The WSR’s operational length is 6.000 km. Last year, the company transported 246.9 million tons of commodities.
