Russian and Finnish customs officers are planning to establish a permanent inter-ministerial working group

Decision has been taken to establish in the nearest future customs interagency Russian-Finnish working group. According to the press service of the North-West Customs Administration of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, from Russian side Elvira Nabiullina, Minister for Economic Development is considered to be the co-chairman of the group. This issue was discussed at a meeting of representatives of the FCS and the Finnish Customs.

Representatives of the Finnish side also suggest to develop cooperation actively at the regional level: on an ongoing basis to arrange meeting of the heads of customs bodies of the adjacent crossing points, the heads of Vyborg and the Karelian customs with the directors of the Eastern and Northern Districts of Customs of Finland on education, the application of customs procedures, risk analysis, cooperation in the sphere of mass- media.

Head of North West Customs Administration, Nazip Galikeev, assured his Finnish colleagues that their suggestion will be brought to the notice of the head of the FCS of Russia, and adviced to organize working meetings of customs experts on specific areas of customs affairs that further.

Both sides paid special attention to a discussion of the development of infrastructure in border areas. Russian participants reported to Finnish colleagues that in the region of NWCA currently under the Concept of customs clearance and customs control at locations close to the state border, 3 Customs and terminal logistics were launched in the region of responsibility of NWCA. In the future, it is planned to open 11 such terminals. On the site of Russian-Finnish border itself it is planned to launch such terminals near Brusnichnoe MAPP, MAPP Torfianovka and MAPP Svetogorsk which will operate around-the clock.
