In the framework of adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU legislation (the program is approved by the Law of Ukraine), the Ukrainian side submitted proposals for the implementation of a number of European statutory acts on maritime safety. As the correspondent of PortNews IAA reports,the director of the state enterprise Maritime Security Agency (Ukraine), Vyacheslav Voloshin, dedicated his speech to this issue at the fifth international conference-workshop on security and safety in maritime and inland waterway transport (State Maritime Academy named afted Makarov, St. Petersburg, March 16, 2010). In particular, it is mainly about the regulations of the European Parliament and the Council ¹ 725 2004, on strengthening of ships and port facilities security; Directive 65 from 2005 "On strengthening of port security." As the speaker explained, among other things this Directive introduces such a concept as "port security plan."
Introduction of amendments to Ukrainian law, according to Mr. Voloshin, will be implemented within 3 years.
