The first direct ocean container service Maersk Line ECUBEX between Russia and South America will bring a cut in prices for tropical fruits in Russia, and the need for additional costs for transshipment of South American fruit in other ports will be also eliminated. Such opinion during the ceremony of service opening was passed by Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Russia - correspondent of PortNews IAA reports. Estimating the results of the port industry development in Russia in 2009, Mr Putin noted that in a crisis period 9% growth is a good result.
Let us the remind that ECUBEX service is the first direct container service between Ecuador and St. Petersburg, provided by 6 ships Maersk Line with deadweight of 2.5 thousand TEUs. The service will be carried out weekly and all year-round, calling at the ports of Guayaquil (Ecuador), Balboa (Panama), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Bremerhaven (Germany). In St. Petersburg container ships will call at Petrolesport and First Container Terminal.
