Terminal Ridderkerk exceeds expectations

The container terminal in Ridderkerk handled 12,500 TEU in 2009, 2,500 TEU more than expected. The terminal started its operations mid 2008. In 2010, a very considerable rise of throughput is foreseen. At the start, the company declared that turnover could rise to 25,000 - 30,000 TEU per year.

Growth will especially be generated by trucks dropping and collecting containers in Ridderkerk afzetten, for the deep sea terminals at the Maasvlakte, expects the owner Mr Groenenboom. He transports the containers via barge between Ridderkerk and Maasvlakte. His largest customer CMA CGM saves tima and money by the inland drop/collect.
