Poor port infrastructure complicates the development of transit freight traffic through the territory of the Russian Far East to Europe, Viktor Ishayev, the Russian President’s envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District said in an interview with Interfax agency.
"We hear sometimes that the railroad is unable to cope with the volumes, as rail cars accumulate at the ports. The railroad does its job pretty well. There is no infrastructure at ports yet. Someone there creams off revenues from each ton, kilogram but invests nothing in the development, building terminals ", Interfax quotes Viktor Ishayev as saying.
According to the envoy, the Far East region has been unable for many years to implement plans for transit flows due to the lack of port infrastructure development. "That's why we did not have the transit. Transits in the world are growing, while we’re having a reduction ", said Mr. Ishaev
