Odessa Port expects 6.87 m tons of cargoes in Q1, 2010

Cargo turnover at the state-run Odessa Commercial Sea Port (OCSP) in Ukraine is expected to reach 6.870 million tons of commodities in the first quarter of 2010, or a 6.5-percent drop from 7.352 million tons of cargoes handled in the same period last year, the OCSP press service said.

Odessa Commercial Sea Port is one of the largest ports of the Black Sea-Azov basin. The port’s facilities enable the stevedore to handle more than 14 million tons of dry cargoes and 14 million tons of oil products a year. OCSP’s 2009 throughput was reported at 28.007 million tons, a19% cutback from 2008’s numbers.
