Maktren-Nafta Terminal’s LPG volumes up 56%, 30.000 tons in Q1, 2010

The volume of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shipped via Maktren-Nafta Terminal (port of Temryuk, Krasnodar Region) rose in the first quarter of 2010 (Q1, 2010) by 56% from Q1, 2009, to some 30.000 tons. The average monthly volume of LPG at the terminal increased by 25% as compared with 2009’s numbers, to 10.000 tons, Safinat LIG press office said.

In 2009 Maktren-Nafta was the first Russia’s LPG terminal operator. The terminal is designed for year-round navigation. It has access to the Black Sea through the Kerch Strait. The terminal facilities include two-way rail overpass for simultaneous discharge of 20 tanks, 6.000-c.m.capacity tank farm, a 400-m pipeline to transport the LPG to the dock. Sliding discharge equipment allows handling tanks of different capacities, 54, 75 and 85 cubic meters. Efficient loading speed - up to 200 tons / hour. The terminal implemented two loading schemes: from a tank farm onto the ship, transshipment of LPG from the vessel into the tank. The harbor facilities of the terminal complex and the canal can accommodate ships of a draft of 4.6 – 5.0 meters. The loading operation takes from 8 to 12 hours. Along with the technological facilities and equipment, the terminal operates its own jetty and driveways. The complex construction was implemented as part of the federal target program "Modernization of Transport System of Russia (2002-2010)". Major providers of LPG to Maktren-Nafta in 2009 were Novatek, LukOil OJSC, GazpromNeft OJSC, KazRosGaz ltd, Tatneft LLC, Tobolsk-Neftekhim LLC.
