Rosgranitsa to upgrade freight checkpoint at Rostov-on-Don Port

The Russian State Border Federal Agency (Rosgranitsa) by its order (February 27, 2010 N 91-OD) launched step-by-step reconstruction of a permanent marine freight checkpoint at the port of Rostov-on-Don. The renovation will help boost the capacity of the post, the RosMorPort’s Rostov branch statement said.

Rostov port is linked to the inland waterways of Russia, a strategically important Southern corridor for foreign trade flows. The port sees ships going across the Black Sea and Mediterranean basins. The Rostov-on-Don port was open to provide services by the order of Russia’s Ministry of Transport on July 9, 2009 (N 114). In 2009 the stevedoring companies operating at the seaport transshipped nearly 6.165 million tons of commodities.
