In Feb. 2010, there was a 9.3-percent increase in outbound containerized cargoes as compared with Feb. 2009 and a 6.1% rise in overall export volumes for financial year by the end of February. The port heavily added in timber (+137%), wheat (+82), vegetables (+82%) and paper (+54%).
In 12 months by the end of February 2010 the Port gained 0.4% in imported volumes. Inbound containerized cargoes largely contributed to the results, showing a 28.7% surge. The Port Authority posted a 194% spike in volumes of imported insulation material, aluminum (+ 177%), furniture (+ 90%), vehicle parts (+ 52%), clothing (+ 47%) and paper (+ 47%), while imports of pulp and wastepaper and fresh and frozen vegetables were down.
