The Federal law provides for the ratification of the agreement between Russia and Greece on the merchant shipping, signed in Athens on Dec. 6, 2001.
The agreement is aimed at regulating the issues of shipping policies, establishing mechanisms of cooperation of the competent authorities responsible for implementing the Agreement, as well as to determine the regime of the ship, crew and cargo staying on the territories of the parties.
The Agreement provides for certain restrictions on the exercise of criminal and civil jurisdiction of the States parties in respect of crew members of the other party of the Agreement (articles 14 and 15).
