A campaign for targeted Paris & Black Sea MoU inspection of tankers is scheduled to be conducted from September 1 to November 30, 2010, the Russian Maritime Register statement said.
The campaign will be carried out to verify compliance with the requirements of damage stability of tank vessels.
The object of the campaign will be the crude oil and chemical tankers, gas carriers, subject to damage stability requirements contained in Annex I of MARPOL, Chapter 2 of the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code), Chapter 2 of the Code of building and equipment of ships, carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (BCH Code) and Chapter 2 of the International Code and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (IGC).
The campaign aims at establishing that: the vessel meets the requirements of damage stability, as contained in applicable instruments, loading a ship meets the conditions contained in the approved stability information, or can be set as being within an acceptable range using the apparatus of loading control at the disposal of the master and the crew.
During the campaign Port State Control officers will check: the availability on board of approved stability information, the ability of master to understand the content of information on the stability in the case that the material is written in a language other than his mother tongue, presence in the information about the stability of cases, involving damage stability; compliance of the vessel load with requirements to damage stability in the current and previous ship cruises.
