The Mineral Haiku docks at Ilyichevsk, the largest vessel the port ever handled

The Panama-flagged MINERAL HAIKU called today at SE Illichivsk Sea Commercial Port (SCPI, Odessa region, Ukraine). The 180,000dwt vessel (length - 288.93 m, breadth – 45 m) is the largest ship the port has ever seen. The bulker arrived from Yuzhny port to take additional 45,000 tons of iron ore concentrate, the state-run company said.

The Bulat tugboat (rated power of 5440 hp), added to the harbor fleet in October 2009, participated in mooring operation.

State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Illyichevsk) is among the four largest Ukrainian ports. The company’s handling facilities allow transshipping annually over 30 million tons of cargo. The port operates the 6-km-long quay wall with 29 berths. Port of Illyichevsk also has three railway entrance and three crossing points for road transport. In 2009 freight turnover at the port shrank by 13.8% year-on-year, to 16.286 million tons.
