More oil fields for ESPO pipeline by the end of 2010

Two new oil and gas fields, Dulis'minskoe Yaraktinskoe in Irkutsk region, will be connected to the pipeline Eastern Siberia - Pacific Ocean (ESPO) by the end of this year, press release of Vostoknefteprovod LLC (a Transneft’s subsidiary, the pipeline operator) said. The fields annual supply volume may reach 815,000 tons of oil and 3.4 million tons of gas, respectively.

The ESPO pipeline system allows the oil producers to save significantly on the cost of oil transportation to the end consumer. Experts note that the successful implementation of the ESPO project has improved investment attractiveness of the licensed fields and urged the oil and gas producing companies on early commercial operation of the fields, located near the route of the pipeline, Vostoknefteprovod statement said.

The end point of the ESPO pipeline is the terminal in the Bay of Kozmino in Primorye. The crude oil is still hauled by the railroad to the terminal from Skovorodino (Amur Region), since the pipeline construction has not yet been completed, then loaded to tankers and shipped to the Asia-Pacific countries. The first-phase terminal capacity is 30 million tons a year, which is expandable to 50 million tons annually.
