Port Yuzhny starts offshore loading operations

For the first time the Ukrainian port Yuzhny carried out loading of bulk cargo to a large-tonnage Capsize bulker anchored in the roadstead, the port’s press office reported.

 

The stevedore company loaded 28,000 tons of ore concentrate onto the 194,000DWT KASSOS WARRIOR bulk cargo carrier (LOA - 300 meters, breadth - 47,5 meters, maximum draft - 18,5 meters) at the offshore transshipment complex N 1. Altogether, the stevedore will reportedly load 53,000 tons of the bulk cargo to the ship at anchor.

 

Offshore handling operations at the harbor may enable the Port Yuzhny to provide cargo shipments of up to 200,000 tons. This will help the company increase the attractiveness of the port for cargo owners and, eventually, boost the stevedore’s throughput and cargo handling volume.
