Eight-month container traffic at Port of Los Angeles up 17.9%, to 5.15m TEUs

Container throughput of Port of Los Angeles (USA) in January-August 2010 increased by 17,9% compared with the same period of 2009, to 5.15 million TEUs, the Port Authority press release said.
In August, containers count rose 24.69% over the same period last year, to 763.800 TEUs.

Port of Los Angeles is the largest seaport of the United States. The Port’s area covers 3.5 hectares. It has 27 freight terminals for bulk, liquid cargoes, containerized cargoes and autos. Last year, the port of Los Angeles handled 6.7 million TEUs. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach form together the U.S. port complex, one of the world’s biggest hub.
