John Fredriksen’s Golden Ocean has cancelled a capesize newbuilding at Deahan Shipbuilding. The dual Oslo and Singapore-listed shipowner said it had “decided to exercise its right under the shipbuilding contract for the vessel to be named Golden Changi to cancel that contract”. The 170,500 dwt bulker was the last of four resales acquired by the company at $72.52m in December 2006. The vessels were originally due to be delivered between May 2008 and January 2009. Golden Ocean said it was entitled to reimbursed installments paid to date to Daehan.
