Petrolesport starts operating a new crane in November, to handle Panamax vessels

Petrolesport (part of Global Ports) plans to put into operation in November this year a new Ship-To-Shore (STS) container crane, which can handle ships of Panamax class. The crane has a load capacity of 50 tons under the spreader and performance up to 40 movements per hour. The new crane will be operational in November 2010 at the deep-water berth N46, the stevedore company’s press service said.

The crane was delivered on Sept.24 to the terminal by Finland-flagged Protector tug and Scanbarge barge. The STS crane is the seventh shore crane to be operated at the container terminal of Petrolesport.

According to marketing director of Petrolesport Alexander Svetlichniy, the acquisition of new equipment was carried out as part of the company's investment program aimed at developing the production capacities of specialized terminals of the company.
