According to CPV’s Director General Vyacheslav Pertsev, the company has come to the point of fundamental change in the traffic in favor of the containers. According to the CPV’s development strategy, by 2015, the transshipment of containers at the port should reach 650,000 TEUs. The company noted that the figure could be achieved "much earlier".
CPV’s several terminals have focused on working with containers. Currently, the containerized goods are being handled at berths N14-16 and partially N3-4. In 2011, the company projected the purchase of specialized equipment for three berths (NN5, 9, 10) to handle boxes.
"In 2011, we plan to handle some 400,000 TEUs. At the same time, we're not going to cease handling metals, pulp, machinery, goods for the northern delivery, heavy loads," Mr. Pertsev noted.
