Port Vysotsky coal throughput soars 48.4% to 503.610 tons

The volume of Russian coal exports through the Coal Terminal of Port Vysotsky LLC in January-February 2011 surged by 48.4% compared to the same period last year, to 503,610 tons, PortNews reports citing the company’s press service.

In February, Port Vysotsky handled 228,140 tons of export coal.

Port Vysotsky LLC specializes in shipments of Russian export coal to Western Europe. In 2010 the company handled 2,3 million of export coal versus 2,9m tons a year earlier. In 2008-2010 the company implemented large-scale modernization program, including reconstruction of piers, dredging of harbor and approach channel. Now, Port Vysotsky is able to accommodate 11.9-m draft vessels and handle two 45,000dwt ships and three 25,000dwt ships at a time.
